Bluntly put, what do you wish you’d learned in school that you never did? Hind sight is 50/50, but your feedback is important.
There are so many topics in our world that don’t get enough attention. What is a topic you wish you’d learned more about? Here at Rarely Taught, But Should be., we hope to bring light to topics that need more attention. Pressing topics that have, and are still affecting people’s daily lives. There’s something amazing that happens when we can bring awareness to a subject that has been somewhat berried. When we can share it, challenge it, express our thoughts and feelings towards it, change happens. Growth occurs and our conscious awareness increases. We all become more informed, and this helps society as a whole.
From a bird’s eye view, when we look into our western societies, not much is taught while in school about personal finances, sustainable practices, or even basic survival skills. Let alone the un-biased history of Canada or the United States of America. Some would argue our current curriculum is somewhat outdated in our schools, and a more hands on approach to knowledge would be beneficial.
We hope the courses that come to grace our unique educational platform help to fill in the educational gaps. We aren’t saying some schools don’t teach personal finance, or sustainability practices, basic daily living hacks or even kindness., yet there are many schools that for-go these important topics for less practical ones. I guess, we are firm believers here at Rarely Taught that education should be able to be applied, and not just taught.
